Two events triggered this Chaconne: reading Robert Gjerdingen's chapter on the Prinner (Music in the Galant Style, Oxford University Press, 2007) and listening to Holland Albright's Passion/Lament. Instead of avoiding parallel fifths as the Prinner does, this music embraces it. The melodic lines in the four wind instruments are all based on the sequence B-A-G-F# and the bass line (cello and double bass) is E-D-C-B. The Prinner would have the melodic lines based around G-F#-E-D, producing parallel thirds. Perhaps this could be called a 19th century variation of the Prinner.
