This course covers the basics of HTML and XHTML as well as Cascading Style Sheets. Normally a prerequisite to MMDT 1144 (Multimedia and the Web), I am taking the two simultaneously as part of an attempt to complete the Web Programing degree in three semesters and a summer session. The work done in this class therefore has a fair amount of overlap with MMDT 1144, which is quite noticable in the lab assignments presented here.
Lab 2, so named because it covers chapters one and two of the text, is a simple, single web page with paragraphs in various alignments. We were free to choose our own content; I felt a pre-World War One military history analogy fit the bill.
Lab 4 (chapters 3 and 4) had less scope for creativity. It is a straighforward demonstration of text formating, color, etc.
Lab 5 coveres static images and their layout on a page.
Lab 6 shows some of the ways links are used in a web page.
Lab 9 combines chapters 7-9 all of which deal with cascading style sheets, which by coincidence (or maybe not, as this class and the Dreamweaver class are taught by the same instructor) is the same topic of the Dreamweaver class.
The Final Project is a complete website for a mock business with tie-in to the final project for the Dreamweaver class.
