Two tunes for cornet, one like a canter and the other like a gallop. Both also have some trotting so as not to tire out the horse or cornet player.
The Gallop is in 5/8 based on Eadweard Muybridge's photos showing a horse galloping in 10 frames, two for when each hoof is on the ground and two where all four hooves are off the ground. In the music, each note is a hoof hitting the ground. In the Gallop music the rest after four eighth notes represents all four hooves off the ground.
For Alanna.
The recordings were realized by the Steinberg Dorico cornet.
