Genealogy Home Charlie and Lucille Hoppin

Lucille Hoppin went to live with Judge Charles Wright after losing her parents. She worked at Wright's bakery where they sold ice cream and bread. At age 13 she was introduced to Charles Hoppin by Jennie Curtis Huth in Waverly. Illinois. When she was a senior in high school, Charlie asked her for a date. She already had one, but he continued to call on her. Lucille lived on Uncle Will Curtiss' farm, then at Uncle Will's house in town. After Lucille and Charlie were married they lived in Virden, Illinois. THey moved to Charles City, Iowa where Charlie's sister Mary and her husband O. J. Harney lived. While ther were there neither Charlie nor his brother Fred had jobs.

Both Charlie and Fred went to pharmacy school. Fred had worked in a pharmacy in Oklahoma and when the family moved back to Waverly, Fred got a job in a pharmacy in Jacksonville. Fred and Charlie bought the Virden pharmacy together when Bud was four years old. They lived with Charlie's mother, Marian Curtis Hoppin, in Virden. After Fred's death, Charlie and Lucille openned a drug store in Virginis, Illinois. They had the store there until they retired.2 3 4
